This little lady was a fun commission. A friend of mine had a close friend (who loves mermaids) have a baby girl and wanted a gift for her birth to go in the nursery.
The eventual design of this mermaid was a bit of a process. Most mermaids are depicted a little too risqué for the nursery (think shells or hair for a bra...nope). I worked to create a slightly more modest yet still free-spirited little mermaid for their little Lily. Side note: the red hair was purely a complimenting color choice- turns out the family has many red heads including new born Lily.
